Homegrown Farms started with a simple yet powerful idea: reconnect people with wholesome, sustainably grown food. In a world where convenience often compromises quality, we believe in nurturing the earth and harvesting produce that’s as healthy for you as it is for the planet. It’s been an incredible journey so far with early mornings, hands in the soil, and endless learning from nature. We’re beyond thrilled to share the fruits (and veggies!) of our labor with you, and breads too! Did you know we have our own micro bakery on the Farm? We bake sourdough breads and some yeasted breads and cakes as well. Do visit our Farm Shop to see the delicious sourdough breads we have to offer.
With Michael blazing the trail, I learned everything I know from trying, failing, and trying again. One of the
first loaves of sourdough bread I made was so oddly shaped and I am sure it was over-proofed to the hilt!
My family supportively ate every last slice, dipping it heartily in a bowl of pumpkin soup. Today I can make a
variety of sourdough baked goods and my favourite is the rye whole wheat country bread made with a
special starter all the way from San Fransisco. Follow us for regular updates and catch a glimpse of life on the Farm! Our naturally leavened sourdough isn’t just delicious, it’s a gut-health hero. Thanks to slow fermentation, sourdough is easier to digest, lower in gluten, and packed with prebiotics that feed your gut microbiota. Studies show it can help regulate blood sugar and boost nutrient absorption (NIH, Dr. Vanessa Kimbell, Sourdough School).
